Right on the tail end of 1963, a new sci-fi TV series kicked off, called Doctor Who. In those black-and-white days, there wasn't much choice, there were only two channels and they only ran for a few hours each, so anything out of the ordinary was a bonus. I remember that it had quite a profound effect on us primary school kids, and was the subject of many discussions in the playground.
It introduced us to the concept of time travel, a rather brilliant idea that allowed storylines to go where they pleased, limited only by the script writer's imagination. To us kids in the playground, it was inspirational.
Anyway, having done a bit of pseudo-time travelling myself (one way, and limited to recent modern history!), I got to wondering if time travel would ever be possible?
And then it came to me, if time travel becomes possible, then it's already here!
But if so, where would it be? Who amongst us would have the modern-day equivalent of a tardis?
The answer is perhaps quite simple. It would be somebody who has been very lucky, they've invested well, and bucked negative trends, or they have won a large cash prize, or been lucky gambling on the horses.
Some such thing.
Not all, most people will simply have been lucky or skilful, but possibly one or two have travelled back from the future?
Like you, I feel this idea is far-fetched, fanciful, and that time travel won't be with us just yet.
Still, it's a nice idea, and you never know, it might just explain why sometimes a big lottery winner takes some time to come forwards! Perhaps they've had quite a long journey to get here, over the centuries!
If my daft theory holds any water at all, some of the big winners may well have disappeared completely just after the press conference.
I wonder...........
Thanks for reading, Dan
